BUZZER BEATER MIRACLES
Hola familia y amigosssss
Another week FILLED with miracles!! Last week I fasted so that we could find people who would be truly interested in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Like always, God provided!!
He has helped us find so many people and families, we have had to cancel appointments because we don't have enough time in the day (starting to work at 9am, 3 hours of studying, 45 minute lunch with a member, and ending the day at 9:30pm)!! I have literally been on the verge of tears as our new friends have shown such strong desires to learn more. Their faith and yearning for the spirit is so incredible and we are so excited to keep teaching them!
This week however was also FILLED with Spanish fails. Too many to share all of them in one email and tristemente. Many of them included me being hazed and the use of bad words (hazing is not funny) (who new exact pronunciation is so important). THE WORST FEELING is when you say something and immediately everyone, including your companion, looks around and starts to die laughing and all you can do is sit there in confusión and try and play along while wanting to bury yourself in a hole. Some solid stories for the journal.
One of these experiences this week was with our friend Julio who is getting baptized soon! Before our lesson with him on Monday, I was telling my mom how much I have improved in Spanish and that I have been carrying the lessons and conversation at lunch etc.. Definitely was giving myself way too much credit . However, that night we went to Julio's house and he came out so sad so we asked what happened. As he was telling the story I could barely understand anything. I thought he was telling us that his friend's mom passed away and that he was so sad but he is so grateful that God has a plan for her etc.. I of course offered that we could go by his friends house and share a message of peace and comfort and while I was saying this my comps eyes got so big but I was already too far along in my sentencia and Julio just looked at me and yelled in english, "MY FRIEND DEAD". How and why I thought he was talking about his friend's mom I literally have no idea. For the next thirty minutes he went on and on about how I need to listen and study Spanish before I speak. It's been a week and he still won't look me in the eyes, HOWEVER, it's ok bc he likes my comp a lot. So ya I have been humbled this week in my spanish abilities. However it's well deserved. It's too easy to hype yourself up to your mom learned my lesson on the importance of humility
Spiritual Thought:
My go to scripture when we first meet someone is in the Book of Mormon in Alma 34:32:
"For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day for men to perform their labors."
RIGHT NOW is the time to decide what we want ETERNITY to look like. This life is the time to "prepare to meet God".
In the words of President Nelson, "Every righteous choice that you make here will pay huge dividends now. But righteous choices in mortality will pay unimaginable dividends eternally."
Focus on eternal happiness rather than momentary happiness. Developing an eternal perspective will literally change our life FOREVER AND EVER!
We are so lucky to be given the exact steps we need to take to receive eternal glory and happiness through our living prophet and the words of God in the scriptures.
