Florida
This week I have felt extra blessed to be a missionary. I just moved to La Florida and I LOVE IT!!!! The area I am in right now is gigantic with a lot of neighborhoods in one section and the other part is more city with a lot of buildings and people.
My new companion, Hermana Herrera, is from PerĂº and is a MACHINE. She loves to work so hard and has such a special spirit. Her sacrifice to be a missionary has inspired me SO MUCH. I also love Peruvian accents and food so wujuuu
I was a tiny nervous the first day I got here when I saw that there wasn't any progress happening. I tend to rely on myself without even realizing so naturally I started to write down plans of how we are going to find 6 people a day, get triple the amount of people to church, and get people on the path towards the beautiful gift of baptism.
As missionaries, we have an hour of personal study everyday to read the scriptures and study how to become better disciples of Christ. This hour is pure gold!!! During the week, I read in Doctrine and Covenants 11 and I was quickly called to repentance for my lack of faith and reliance on the Lord
4 Yea, whosoever will thrust in his sickle and reap, the same is called of God.
5 Therefore, if you will ask of me you shall receive; if you will knock it shall be opened unto you
8 Verily, verily, I say unto you, even as you desire of me so it shall be done unto you; and, if you desire, you shall be the means of doing much good in this generation.
9 Say nothing but repentance unto this generation. Keep my commandments, and assist to bring forth my work, according to my commandments, and you shall be blessed
This is not MY work. This is GOD'S work which I have been called to preach by HIS power and spirit.
Me thinking I can do this on my own won't get me anywhere close to where God can get me. These verses are so clear:
1. ASK God for help and ACT to receive
2. Desire the will of God
3. Help others ACT to feel the power and grace of repentance in their lives
4. Be as obedient as I can be
5. Work hard to bring the love of God to EVERY person I see
and through this "[I] will be blessed" and "shall be the means of doing much good in this generation".
Faith is sometimes so hard to rely on, but as our prophet has taught, "The Lord does not require perfect faith for us to have access to His perfect power. But He does ask us to believe".
Once I let go and put in everything I could put into His work, O MY WE HAVE SEEN MIRACLE AFTER MIRACLE.
I am so grateful that I have so many chances to mess up and try again. The gospel is so beautiful and is filled with constant joy as we rely on God's power, plan, and timing while working as hard as we can.
