5 Lunches In 1 Day
I have felt so much gratitude this week. At the most random times, tears will start to fall due to the IMMENSE and INDESCRIBABLE LOVE I have for my mission. It's as if my heart BURSTS with legit joy.
I know every week, I say something like, "WOW! So many miracles this week!!!" And once again, I start my email by saying the same. A WEEK OF SO MANY MIRACLES!!!
Last week, I wasn't in my area a lot to be able to find new people and help those we are teaching to progress. When my companion and I were finally back together in our area, we looked at our WhatsApp and almost everyone that was progressing DROPPED US!!! WHAT?!?
Honestly, this type of "trial of faith" has happened so many times on my mission, but FINALLY, this time, I decided to handle it with more spiritual maturity. I said a personal prayer thanking God for all the blessings I have and letting Him know I am going to continue with hope and joy no matter the circumstance.
On Monday, when we started this new week, my companion and I begged in prayer that we would be able to find someone who doesn't only need the gospel but truly WANTS it. We left the house ready to work, and BOOM! We received a notification of a new reference. We quickly clicked the name and saw it was a self-reference of someone who wanted to learn more about our beliefs and the Book of Mormon. We immediately called and introduced ourselves. We told her we would come by in 20 minutes to give her a Book of Mormon. She was very surprised but agreed! We immediately said a prayer of gratitude and RAN to her house.
She is the CUTEST PERSON EVER. When she came out to greet us, she gave us the biggest hug. She explained how she had been searching for a religion and was Buddhist for many years but didn't find the spirituality she wanted. An hour before we arrived at her house, a memory popped into her mind of meeting a Mormon girl in a hospital who explained to her the power of prayer. She linked that memory to the church ads on YouTube and searched "los misioneros". She put her name and address on the church website and explained how it was so crazy that we called her only a few minutes later.
We taught her about the Restoration, and after we shared the First Vision, she grabbed her heart and said, "I feel so happy and a burning in my chest," and began to cry.
We explained that feeling is the spirit testifying that these are of God and how she could feel this same peace and happiness through receiving the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost by being baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ. When we invited her to be baptized, she paused, began to cry again, and whispered, "this is exactly what I have been searching for".
WHAT???? I was just in AWE of what I was witnessing at that moment. I have heard of stories like this all of my life, and God blessed me with my own personal witness that, indeed, miracles like this do exist if we endure with hope and joy, no matter the circumstance.
Agustina will be baptized in 2 weeks.
