Día De Los Niños... Bruh
Our prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, asked the question, "What would your life be without the Book of Mormon?" and it surprised me when last week I didn't know how to respond.
Though I lacked a lot in my testimony when I first started the mission, I have never doubted the power and truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. However, answering President Nelson's question out loud really made me reflect.
Every day since I was reminded of his question, I have written a short explanation of what the Book of Mormon has brought me during my study. I have written things like: clarity, protection, spiritual consistency, and humility.
However, the biggest change I have seen as I reflected on the impact the Book of Mormon has made in these past weeks is the fact I am filled with the pure LOVE of God.
I have learned on the mission that working with church leaders is not always a gratifying experience. In my ward where I am serving, we have some challenging situations, not going to lie. I have tried to serve
them and communicate with them. However, the issues were not being resolved.
While planning one of our baptisms, we had a ton of problems happen with one specific leader. I was honestly so mad and disappointed in the way we were being treated. However, in my studies that day, I read about LOVE.
Moroni 7
48 Therefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ.
After reading this, I got down on my knees and begged for love in my heart for this leader in my ward. It's not like after my prayer, this hermano became my favorite person ever. However, I have been blessed with patience and perspective. I can better understand where he is coming from and can truly say I have love in my heart for him and am grateful for his discipleship.
No matter the situation, the Book of Mormon can illuminate our minds with "all the things which ye should do" (2 Nephi 32:3).
