RECEIVE
RECOGNIZE
RESPOND
to REVELATION
has been something I have thought a lot about recently.
I love the story at the beginning of the Book of Mormon after the prophet Lehi's family left Jerusalem on the Lord's command and were then commanded again to travel back into Jerusalem to retrieve the brass plates from a wicked man named Laban.
There are SO MANY lessons one could learn from studying 1 Nephi 2-4. Still, something that stuck out to me was after the second time of trying and failing to retrieve the plates of brass, Nephi was diligent and tried once more "not knowing beforehand the things which [he] should do" (1 Nephi 4:6). Through the Spirit, he was led to success.
This week, I have noticed that almost every "random" door we knock, the person who answers has interest. Or that every member we "randomly" text responds by saying how our message answered their prayers.
One could think that this is just a "lucky week" or just coincidences; however, it is revelation God "distills upon [our souls] as the dews from heaven" (Doctrine and Covenants 121:45) while being "led by the spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which [we] should do."
Elder Bednar said,
"We do not have to recognize in the moment we are receiving revelation that we are receiving revelation. Simply be good."
As we continue to live worthy of the companionship of the Spirit, we too will be guided by the Spirit "not knowing beforehand" how to accomplish our worthy desires.
RECEIVE, RECOGNIZE, and RESPOND to REVELATION.
